Before joining Masuda Funai, Shane was an attorney for a Los Angeles civil litigation firm working in personal injury and medical malpractice matters. He successfully argued motions in court, succeeding in summary judgment on a high-stakes wrongful death action.

During law school, he was a certified law clerk in the Preliminary Hearing Unit for the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office, where he attended preliminary hearings and conducted direct and cross-examinations of witnesses. He also served as an advocate at his institution’s Immigration Legal Clinic where he processed visa applications for foster care children and victims of domestic violence.
