Wage and Hour Webinar: Planning for the Final Rule
Join Frank Del Barto and Jiwon Yhee of Masuda Funai's Employment, Labor & Benefits Group to learn about planning for the release of the Final Rule related to the increase in the salary level that is applicable to exempt employees.
Under the current regulations, an employee must be paid at least $455 per week ($23,660 annually) in order to qualify as an exempt executive, administrative, or professional employee. Under the Final Rule, which is to be released in July 2016, the new salary level is expected to be about $970 a week ($50,440 annually). Generally, unless an employee makes $970 per week / $50,440 annually, he or she cannot be considered an exempt employee. As a result, overtime, travel time, and other timekeeping issues must be considered.
Jiwon and Frank will review the expected Final Rule and various planning considerations. Additionally, they will also review some common wage and hour issues that continue to create unnecessary exposure.
