Masuda, Funai, Eifert & Mitchell, Ltd is pleased to announce the equity partnership of Laura Tallroth Edmonds and Rein F. Ms. Edmonds, Vice Chair of the Firm's Business Group, concentrates her practice in business law, with an emphasis on business entity formation; mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, and other strategic alliances; commercial financings; and other general commercial transactions.  Ms. Edmonds also has extensive knowledge and experience assisting foreign corporations establish operations in the U.S. 

After completing her undergraduate work at the University of Wisconsin, Ms. Edmonds, who is fluent in Japanese, spent time in Japan working in the international affairs and economic development departments of the Chiba Prefectural Government.  She returned to the University of Wisconsin where she earned her J.D. in 1996.  Ms. Edmonds is admitted to practice in Illinois and the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois and Wisconsin.

Furthermore, Ms. Edmonds was recently elected to the Board of Directors of the Japan America Society (JAS) and appointed as Co-Chair of the Finance Committee.  She also acts as the Secretary to the Midwest-U.S. Japan Association

Rein F. Krammer, Vice Chair of the Firm's Litigation Group, represents a diverse range of businesses and industries in federal and state courts throughout the U.S.  Mr. Krammer concentrates his practice in commercial contract disputes; fraudulent and deceptive practices claims; sale of goods disputes; equipment leasing claims; warranty claims; product liability claims; supplier, distributor, dealer and sales representative disputes; creditor rights and bankruptcy; accounting disputes; secured transactions; repossession and replevin actions; product recall campaigns, and general commercial and UCC law. He has significant experience at the trial and appellate levels before mediation tribunals and arbitration neutrals.

In addition, Mr. Krammer is a Certified Public Accountant.  As a CPA, Mr. Krammer provides business counseling and assists in developing risk management programs for our clients.  Mr. Krammer is a member of the German American Chamber of Commerce of Midwest and is bilingual in German.  He is admitted to practice in Illinois and received his J.D. from DePaul University in 1993.
