Mr. Robert White Appointed to AILA Healthcare Initiative Committee
Mr. Bob White, a principal in the Firm's Immigration Group, was recently appointed to the National Healthcare Initiative Committee of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA).
One of the tasks of the Committee is to devise solutions to the healthcare worker shortage in the United States and to draft proposed legislation for possible introduction in Congress.
The work of this Committee will be especially important in light of the regression of the EB-3 employment-based immigrant visa category for Philippine and Chinese nationals.
(Additional information about the regression in the EB-3 category is contained in the Weekly Immigration Update section of the Firm's website.)
Due to the regression, healthcare organizations will be significantly hindered in obtaining the services of qualified Indian and Filipino nurses and physical therapists.
The U.S. Department of Labor has determined that there is a significant shortage of qualified workers in these occupations in the United States.
It is anticipated that the priority date regression will only exacerbate the current shortage.
In addition to being a member of the AILA Healthcare Initiative Committee, Mr. White is also the Chair of the AILA Chicago Chapter.
Mr. White also participates on the AILA Chicago Chapter's Department of Labor Liaison Committee.
Additional information about Mr. White's background is contained in the attorney biography section of the Firm's website.
